OLMO
Academic background
Carlo Olmo (Canale, 1944) graduates at Turin in Philosophy in 1968 and
in Modern Letters in 1969. From 1993 he is ordinary teacher at the
Faculty of Architecture in the Politecnico di Torino, where he is also
coordinator of the doctorate course in History of the architecture
and the urbanism and of the institute of Superior Studies of Human
Sciences, member of the Academic Senate and responsible of the Committee
of the cultural activities of the athenaeum.
He has taught in numerous Italian and foreigner suniversities among
which: the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris,
the Department of Theory and History of Architecture, the MIT in Cambridge
(Ma), the Theory and History Programme of the Architectural Association
in London and the Escola Tècnica Superior de Arquitectura in Barcellona.
Present position
From 1.1. 2000 he is Headmaster of the Faculty of Architecture in Turin.
From September 2002, he is City-Architect of the Turin city and from
November 2002 he is Manager of "Il giornale dell'Architettura",
published by U. Allemandi.
